Ionna Brand Identity

Ionna is a new EV charging experience brand brought to the world through the investment of 8 of the world's largest automakers (BMW, Mercedes, GM, Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai and Stellantis). With the EV charging experience fraught by a frustratingly unreliable and complicated experience, Ionna set its sights on disrupting the category with an unconventional brand identity and customer experience.

 
 

The Design Story

 

The core design idea articulates how the brand intends to energize (pun intended) the category with a more human and trustworthy graphic language, leveraging into the way fueling and automotive brand design used to romance the American consumer.

At the heart of the brand, is the mascot Fillup. They are an ambiguously timeless yet nostalgic character that instantly transports our audience to a different time and place.

The Ionna brand positions itself as Your Local Rechargery, with the understanding that most consumers will engage with the brand in their city, or even their specific neighborhood. And that neighborhood oriented, old-timey service-centered feeling is what’s at the heart of the Ionna brand promise. That’s why Ionna intends to charge North America, one neighborhood at time.
